POSITION SUMMARY

Reports to API's President. The Vice President of Finance will direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, prepare current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts for future growth. As a key member of the executive team, the Vice President of Finance will work closely with the President and leadership team to ensure the business remains financially stable, compliant, and able to grow. The Vice President of Finance will play a pivotal role in financial decision-making, providing guidance on long-term business and financial planning to ensure API's continued success. The role requires a unique blend of financial expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Oversee the financial planning and strategy of the organization.
  2. Establish and develop relationships with partners, clients, and stakeholders.
  3. Provide leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team.
  4. Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
  5. Manage the finance and accounting functions, ensuring proper financial reporting and control systems are in place.
  6. Design and implement financial policies and procedures to improve operations and reduce financial risk.
  7. Develop system controls to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  8. Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
  9. Oversees the company's monthly and yearly financial reporting, tax prep, and closings.
  10. Ensure that the company's financial reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  11. Develop and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow for the organization.
  12. Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, annual reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  13. Review annual insurance policies for cost effectiveness and compliance.
  14. Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  15. Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  16. Analyze complex financial data and provide expert advice to the executive team.
  17. Works with the President and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities.
  18. Identifies opportunities for business expansion into new product areas.
  19. Conduct risk assessments across various areas such as market vulnerability, credit risk exposure, cybersecurity threats, or regulatory/government or contract changes.
  20. Cultivate and maintain a climate at the worksite that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff, partners, and clients.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Position Requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
  • Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Unanet financial system experiance preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a similar industry with an understanding of government contracts.

  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead financial teams and work collaboratively with executives.

  • Proven track record of managing complex budgets and financial forecasting.
  • Proficient in software, database, and financial computer application systems.
  • Strong understanding of small business financial needs and challenges.
