Northrop Grumman Defense Systems designs, builds, and delivers space, defense, and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include commercial gun propellant, medium caliber ammunition, large caliber ammunition components, and specialty ammunition/energetics development.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversees and manages manufacturing processes, for highly energetic, static sensitive, corrosive, and chemical processes.
Sets long term goals and can guide a team of technical employees to execute on time, and on budget.
Provides leadership and develop of all safety risks of the process and design the processes such that safety risks are mitigated or eliminated. All processes must meet the minimum standard as outlined in (HOPs) Hazards Operation Standard. Understands and complies with DOD4145.26 ATF.
Manages engineers works closely with the Hazards Analysis and Cross Functional Engineering group in designing and setting up both existing and new processes.
Strong ability to influence early career engineers in manufacturing design practices, process improvement, data analysis, and troubleshooting while targeting strong value stream performance against financial objectives.
Manages and presents status on cost, schedule, and performance for all projects within the area; assesses issues and develops mitigation plans to meet productivity, quality, cost, and delivery goals.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accredited engineering degree with 10 years of experience or a masters degree with 8 years of experience.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a team
Excellent communication skills
Ability to make sound technical decisions
Attention to details and ability to multi-task
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
15 years’ experience in process/mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline
Manufacturing equipment design and installation experience
Prior demonstrated managerial experience
Knowledge of design optimization methods and tools
Knowledge of propellants, ammunition, and practical applications
Experience at a high volume manufacturing facility
Salary Range: $131,200 - $196,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
