The Material Coordinator is responsible for managing, coordinating, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials and supplies needed to support production and operational activities. This role involves tracking inventory levels, processing material requests, coordinating with suppliers and vendors, and ensuring timely delivery and distribution of materials within the organization. The Material Coordinator works closely with production, purchasing, and logistics teams to maintain accurate inventory records, minimize material shortages, and improve overall efficiency in material handling.

Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels, ensuring materials are available for production needs while avoiding overstock.

Perform regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies as needed.

Track and report inventory levels to management, providing data to support decision-making.

Material Coordination:

Process material requests from production or project teams, ensuring timely fulfillment to avoid delays.

Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for material orders, delivery schedules, and any urgent material needs.

Organize and oversee the staging of materials for production and project work, ensuring materials are in the right location at the right time.

Supplier and Vendor Management:

Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues promptly.

Work with purchasing to negotiate terms with suppliers for better pricing, improved delivery times, and quality standards.

Track and report on vendor performance related to delivery accuracy, quality, and timeliness.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of material receipts, transfers, and usage.

Prepare and review reports on inventory status, usage rates, and upcoming material needs.

Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to material handling and inventory management.

Logistics Coordination:

Coordinate the transport and delivery of materials between facilities, warehouses, and vendors as needed.

Collaborate with logistics and transportation teams to arrange inbound and outbound material shipments.

Monitor and manage storage and warehouse space to ensure efficient use of resources.

Process Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements in material handling and inventory control to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Develop and maintain best practices for material management, including training team members as necessary.

Work with other departments to streamline material flows and enhance production efficiency.

Qualifications

Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience as a Material Coordinator, Inventory Manager, or in a related role.

Proficiency in inventory management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to material handling and storage.

Must have a Secret security clearance.

Must be a US Citizen, per contract requirements.
