Job Description:
The Business Career Services office within the Warrington College of Business is seeking a highly motivated and talented Data Analyst Student Assistant to support our Department’s data-driven projects and initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity for a skilled student to gain practical experience in data analysis, data visualization, and data reporting within a high-performing business career services office. The Data Analyst Student Assistant will work closely with our team of Career Coaches, Employer Relations, Career Events, and Administrative Operations personnel to enhance the Department’s decision- making process and contribute to the overall success of the team.
This position is a commitment of a minimum of 20 hour per week and will be located in Hough Hall -350. Additional hours may be available during busy times. Occasional evening events may occur where assistance is needed. A Minimum commitment of one (1) academic year is mandatory, with a preference for a student who can commit to two (2) consecutive academic years.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection and Cleaning: Assist in collecting, organizing, and cleaning data from various sources to ensure accuracy and integrity for analysis.
Data Analysis: Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform strategic decisions and improve business processes.
Reporting and Visualization: Create clear and visually appealing data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings to BCS team members and stakeholders of the College.
Research Support: Support BCS team members in our research and benchmarking projects by providing data-related assistance such as data retrieval and statistical analysis.
Data Integrity Maintenance: Assist in monitoring data quality and resolve data discrepancies to ensure the accuracy of and reliability of the Departments data.
Data Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance data analysis processes, data visualization techniques, and data reporting mechanisms.
Project Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional/cross-departmental teams on various projects associated with Business Career Services.
Expected Salary:
$15.00 hourly
Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
A currently enrolled undergraduate or master’s student at the University of Florida with a focus on data science, business analytics, statistics, computer science, or a related field (such as Engineering).
Previous experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, or data visualization projects.
Familiarity with data mining techniques.
Strong Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data sets, using statistical methods and tools.
Proficiency in Data Tools: Familiarity with data analysis tools and software, such as Python, R, SQL, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools.
Problem Solving Skills: Ability to approach problems logically, think critically, and recommend innovative solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data insights clearly and concisely.
Team Player: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting BCS team members, and contributing to Department goals.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
Time Management: Possess effective organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines, and appropriately manage competing priorities.
