Overview

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing of local, state, and federal payroll tax returns.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare EFTPS worksheets for federal tax filings Make tax payments electronically or over the phonePrepare check requests and coupons for state and local taxes (pay and file electronically)Research and reconcile tax liabilities and payments to GL (monthly)Prepare and maintain Excel spreadsheets of Schedule B tax paymentsMaintain tax spreadsheets with taxable wages, taxes withheld and taxes paid by reporting frequency Assist with preparation of quarterly 941, 940 (FUTA) and SUI tax returns and paymentsAssist with reconciliation of annual state and local reportingAssist with reconciliation, printing and mailing of W-2’sCreate and maintain business process documentation related to all payroll tax filings and system updates. Communicate systems and tax changes to business end users through excellent written and oral communicationsResponsible for learning how the various software and tools utilized by the company interact to update taxes and rates within SAP (e.g.,TUBS, HRSP’s, etc.)Responsible for researching and rectifying any system errors within the SAP Payroll System accurately, timely, and in accordance to Federal, State, and Local guidelinesEstablish and maintain relationships with key Corporate and Divisional personnelSpecial projects as neededPerform other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Payroll Certification – FPC or CPP or actively working toward obtaining professional payroll certification

Two (2) years of experience processing payroll utilizing SAP, specifically in the areas of transaction management, OM/PA processing payroll, running reports, translating results tables and knowledge of wage types

Experience with SAP, Payroll and the standard SAP processes and reporting tools

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Business or Finance, preferred) or three years equivalent experience in a multi-jurisdictional payroll environment Demonstrated functional knowledge of payroll concepts, compliances, practices, and procedures

Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office Suites, Excel and/or software applications related to job functions

Sensitivity to confidential data and matters required. Must be able to handle sensitive information while ensuring that the information is only provided to authorize parties

Thorough understanding of basic accounting concepts (e.g. Accrual accounting, debits/credits, P&L, etc.)

Strong attention to detail, analytical acumen, intellectual curiosity, creativity and a proven work ethic

Strong customer service focus, with well-rounded analytical and prioritization skills and ability to work well under pressure

Must be able to work well in a team environment while also being able to work independently to accomplish a goal or task

Physical Demands

Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine

Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping

May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15lbs
