As Scout’s Senior Associate on our Capital Markets team, you will play an integral role in capital raising activities for our growing portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects. We expect a high volume of transactions in the next 3-5 years and are expanding the team to support that growth.In this position, you will provide key support to project finance, corporate finance, and capital recycling transactions. Beyond your financial modeling and analysis, your work will include a combination of engagement with capital providers (debt, tax equity, and equity), day-to-day management of transactions, and collaboration with teams across the organization. Your deal-oriented mindset will enable you to craft optimal capital solutions, identify and manage diligence risks, and efficiently drive transactions to close – all while integrating the Scout Values in the way you work and relate to others.Key duties in your role will include the following:Own transactions across the investment lifecycle – from origination to financial modeling, board approvals, due diligence, definitive documentation, and deal closing.Draft compelling transaction marketing materials for distribution to prospective lenders and investors.Analyze term sheets and proposals to support recommendations for optimal financing structures to senior management.Maintain transaction models for debt, tax equity, and other equity processes.Lead transaction due diligence and interface with external financing parties and consultants.Collaborate with our Development, Commercial, EPC, and Asset Management teams to collect, organize, and manage transaction deliverables in external data rooms.Develop and manage relationships with external counsel, advisors, and providers of debt, tax equity, and equity capital to optimize our project financings.Complete other duties as assigned.You will report to Scout’s Senior Manager or Associate Director of Project Finance / Capital Markets and will work alongside a high performing team of Analysts.Minimum Requirements:A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.2-3 years of relevant experience in renewables investment banking and/or the renewable energy industry, with a focus on modeling tax equity and debt structures. Experience in utility-scale renewable energy finance (> 80 MW per project) is preferred.Experience in closing renewables capital markets transactions (tax equity, project debt, corporate debt, M&A).Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Independent learner who can quickly apply lessons learned in one area to all other work areas.Self-motivator with exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills.Ability to prioritize and deliver top-quality work product in multiple areas without direct supervision.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.High emotional IQ – strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.Authorized to work in the United States.Organizational Fit:Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting.Strong communication, project management and team-building skills experience working with cross-functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders.Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow-through capability in a fast-paced work environment.Timeline and Location:We will review resumes for this role on an ongoing basis with a start date as soon as possible.
