This position supervises daily pool activities and is responsible for proactively communicating and maintaining a safe pool atmosphere while preventing accidents. The purpose of this position is to provide a positive role model for members as well as fellow aquatic staff and to create a character-developing atmosphere. In addition to lifeguard and swim lesson duties, this position assists the aquatic director with scheduling, hiring, training, and supervising lifeguards.QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Completes required abuse risk management training.Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children.Monitors building, staff, and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor.Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to pass lifeguard certification course.Must be able to remain alert.Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.Work in a wet/humid environment and come into contact with chlorine.Exposure to indoor or outdoor elements.Ability to lift 25 pounds.Noise level-High.EFFECT ON END RESULT:

Successful performance in this position results in vibrant and safe services utilized to deliver the YMCA mission. Participants will encounter staff and programs that will allow the development of human potential and build good health and promote positive self-esteem and safety.
