We’re a global company of problem solvers, collaborators, and innovators, and our businesses build solutions that impact the world.How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)This position’s primary purpose is to lead and direct manufacturing operations including multi-site facilities, continuous improvement, and materials management functions with the aim of increasing performance in safety, quality, customer service, delivery, cost and inventory. This position is both strategic and tactical in nature and will drive rapid, measurable, and sustained continuous improvement for integrated operations. Key to this role will be leadership of the improvement process of materials management resulting in improved customer service levels and improved cash flow through the reduction of working capital. Additionally, this position is responsible for the master scheduling process optimizing customer service levels, quality, throughput, inventory turns, assets, operating expense, and EHS around critical performance metrics. This role has a high degree of presence and involvement with critical organizational functions requiring mentoring to key leaders to improve the overall performance of the business.What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees in manufacturing locations, driving a safe culture and proper practices in all locations.Lead Operations with a culture of Lean. Strategic Planning driving Annual Planning, Process Mapping, Standard Work, CI, Kaizen, etc.Drive world-class quality and performance processes and metrics that align performance goals, measures and leadership drivers throughout manufacturing locations and materials management functions, aligning current performance with long-term goals.Align functional responsibilities of individuals, departments and plant locations to align with strategic growth and operational objectives.Ability to communicate with employees at all levels, and drive change initiatives locally and at an executive level.Improve efficiencies and drive optimization by analyzing and improving collaboration at multiple facilities.Understand and operate in Union Environments, participating in negotiation and resolution as needed.Create a continuous improvement culture and develop and empower team members and stakeholders through coaching, counseling and inspiring them to perform to world-class standards.Ensure quality assurance, proper controls and effective use of best practices in order to drive an integrated approach throughout the business.Optimize materials management to leverage skills, resources and performance.Safety – Provide Leadership for a Safety First Culture, Deliver Improvement in Safety Metrics - Reduction in First Aids, Increased Hazard Identification and Related Corrective/Preventive Actions.Quality – Reduction in Customer Feedback, Improve First Pass Yield, Reduce Scrap & Rework.Delivery – Achieve 95%+ On-time Delivery in Full to Promise Dates, Drive Schedule Adherence Performance Relative to Build Finish Dates.Productivity – Achieve Year over Year Increases in DL Efficiency, Total Hourly Productivity.Achieve Favorable Manufacturing Variances, Year over Year Improvement in Operating Cost per Routing Hour.Increase Employee Engagement Through Leadership.Build Operational Organizational Capability to Support Growth and Continuous Improvement.What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:Required Experience10+ years of progressive experience within a manufacturing company.Experience in implementing successful mixed model moving assembly lines in a union workforce environment.Experience in manufacturing leadership in fabrication, machining, assembly and thermal forming.Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAPICS certification preferred.Excellent project management skills and ability to lead groups in a matrix organization.Experience in plant utilization analysis, new plant start-ups, expansions and closures.Ability to effectively lead people, including the abilities to motivate, train, coach, influence and listen to others.Demonstrated ability to turn around and lead implementation of best practices, including problem identification and resolution, and manufacturing strategies such as quality assurance, health and safety, continuous improvement and capital/facility improvements.Ability to solve immediate issues, as well as form long-term business plans, based on strategic business knowledge, specifically as it relates to manufacturing and operations.Knowledge of the effective use of ERP systems.Education & CertificationsTravel may be required.Office environment with varying degrees of noise levels.At times, plant environment with exposure to varying degrees of heat and noise.
