Payment Specialist
100% Onsite - Location: Los Angeles, CA 90056
What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a Payment Specialist. Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Accounting, the Payment Specialist will be responsible for ensuring child care providers are paid timely, accurately and in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processing and reconciliation of provider payments exported from client databases.
Review and process applications for electronic payments from child care providers.
Review stop payment requests submitted by Provider Services department for accuracy and forward to payment processing supervisor for approval.
Reissue payments for returned electronic payments.
Review affidavit of forged endorsement requests submitted by child care providers and prepare notarized affidavit for submission to the bank.
Complete research necessary to define and resolve problems related to provider payments.
Review and process automatic deductions and garnishment orders from IRS, FTB and other agencies.
Assist with processing and answering provider inquiries for 1099 NEC forms for child care providers.
Cover provider payment calling queue for check verifications and other provider payment related calls.
Process requests from legal and fraud departments for copies of cancelled checks and payment histories.
Prepare funder invoices and perform reconciliation tasks.
Schedule appointments with child care providers to discuss electronic payment options.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:
Minimum 3 years experience required. Strong accounting background in Accounts Payable and General Ledger; experience in a government funded non-profit environment a plus.
