Manager - Corporate SecurityBasic Function/Nature and ScopeThe Manager of Corporate Security is responsible for managing and executing security operations across multiple locations, including Kansas City, the National Capital Region, and other facilities. This position oversees Physical Security, Information Security, and U.S. Government Industrial Security compliance, ensuring the safety and security of employees, visitors, and assets. This position will include direct and indirect responsibility for the security of unique research areas with strict regulatory requirements.The Manager reports to the VP Business Operations and Strategy and is responsible for implementing security policies and procedures. The role involves daily interaction with technical staff, administrative personnel, and external partners to maintain a secure environment. The Manager also provides guidance and support to internal teams and acts as a liaison with external agencies to ensure compliance with government security regulations.Essential Functions
1Security Operations : Responsible for the activities associated with the security of the organization's personnel, property, and information. Manage and supervise the Physical Security Force, ensuring effective security operations at all assigned locations. Coordinate security efforts across Kansas City, the National Capital Region, and other facilities. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of access control, alarm systems, and CCTV. Overseas security-related incident management and reporting.2Industrial Security : Responsible for the oversight of the organization's Industrial Security program across multiple locations. Manage a team of Industrial Security professionals. Ensure compliance with all US Government regulations. Assists in development and implementation of Insider Threat and Counterintelligence efforts.3Direct Program Support : Directly support unique research program areas with security expertise, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirement, and proactive security measure implementation. Create, update, and implement security policies. Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders to ensure quality security support and implementation.4External Relationships : Develop and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, as well as U.S. Government customers. Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters with external partners. Foster a network with DoD, Special Security personnel, FBI, and other relevant agencies.5Technical Ability : Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate security threats. Support the design, implementation, and operation of security systems, including access control and CCTV. Assist in incident response, crisis management planning, emergency plan development, and Workplace Violence prevention initiatives. Supports Communications Security (COMSEC) efforts and ensures compliance with relevant standards. Exhibits a considerable documented background in the areas of legal standards for business, especially in HR law, and background investigations and can conduct corporate investigations.6Education and Awareness : Develop and deliver security education and awareness programs across all departments and facilities. Implement training initiatives to ensure all staff are aware of security protocols and best practices.7Compliance : Ensure compliance with all U.S. Government security regulations, including training requirements and security plans. Support adherence to Department of Defense (DoD) and Special Program Security clearance processes. Maintain records and documentation to demonstrate compliance with security standards.8Financial Responsibility : Assist in managing the department budget, including monitoring expenditures and preparing forecasts. Support cost-effective security measures that align with organizational goals.9Innovation and Improvement : Identify and recommend security improvements to senior management to enhance the protection of people, information, and property. Lead efforts to continuously improve security operations and procedures.Supervisory/Management ResponsibilityStaff Management:Directly supervise security staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.Provide coaching and direction to staff to achieve departmental and organizational goals.Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address employee relations matters.Participate in the hiring, training, and development of security personnel.
Operational Leadership:Shape, inform, and implement Security activities and initiatives that achieve aligned strategic objectives.Oversee daily security operations, ensuring the effective implementation of security protocols.Oversees organizations' Industrial Security professionals and programs across multiple locations.Communicate performance expectations and hold staff accountable for achieving security objectives.Reduce enterprise risk through effective, integrated, and transparent security operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.8-10 years of experience in security management, with a focus on physical security and compliance with government regulations such as NISPOM.Minimum 3 years' experience with supervisory/management and leading diverse teams to accomplish organizational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.Experience with Information Systems Security requirements, physical security, and security force management.Knowledge of ITAR, ECR, and MCTL regulations.Familiarity with Insider Threat and Counterintelligence program design and implementation.Familiarity with SCIF design, construction, and accreditation.Certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).Willingness to travel to offsite locations for oversight and support.
