The International Association of Venue Managers represents a diverse global community of 7,900+ members from public assembly venues and product and service provider organizations. IAVM’s mission is to educate, advocate for, and inspire public assembly venue professionals worldwide.The ideal candidate will have experience in membership recruitment and relationship-building, with a specific focus on adding new members and supporting our retention goals. To position ourselves for financial success, revenue targets will be implemented for this position that will contribute to the $2.2M department budget.The Membership Recruitment Manager will be responsible for acquiring new members from these venue types: arenas, convention centers, exhibit halls, amphitheaters, fairgrounds, performing arts centers, stadiums, university complexes, and more. The position’s principal focus is to increase numbers in the Professional, Young Professional, Allied, Faculty, and Student membership categories.STRATEGIES:Generate revenue by building IAVM’s new membership numbers across all membership categoriesResearch and identify potential leads to expand prospect listsFoster connections with academic institutions to increase Faculty and Student membership, and promote the establishment of student chapters on campuses to raise awareness of career opportunities in venue managementLeverage IAVM resources to stimulate interest across all Regions and SectorsAttend industry events and utilize available technologies to convey the value of membershipParticipate in retention efforts as needed to increase membership dues revenueAssist with inviting past members to reinstate membershipRESPONSIBILITIES:Create and execute effective marketing campaigns to promote membership benefits and attract new membersDrive new member revenue growth by achieving sales numbers as outlined in the department budgetBuild strong relationships with potential members with the goal of converting them to membershipTailor pitch to meet the needs of each prospect, and be persistent in following upRespond to web and phone inquiries promptlyPromote membership through various channels (i.e., email, direct mail, web, social media, etc.)Analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate strategiesProvide regular reports and updates on membership sales and service activitiesCollaborate with staff members to leverage existing education programs, training, events, research, and other services available in the acquisition of new membersDemonstrate continuous sales growth in all membership categoriesMake regular cold calls with the intent of adding new membersAttend industry events to promote IAVM and acquire new members, including Venue

ConnectHandle other duties as assignedWriting samples and details about membership sales and conversions in similar roles will be requested. The position will develop a lead management strategy; this is essential to the position’s success.The membership recruitment manager’s role is a full-time remote position, core hours are 8:30 AM-5:00 PM Central. The individual must demonstrate the ability to manage work hours effectively and deliver results in alignment with outlined goals. This is an exciting career opportunity to contribute directly to IAVM’s growth.REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS REQUIRED:3+ years of association membership, marketing, or sales experience preferredDegree preferred in Marketing, Business Management, Sports Management, Hotel Management, or a related fieldExperience with sales or membership databases, specifically, association management software or customer relationship management systems (CRMs)Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required, along with excellent verbal and writing skills.Focused, goal-oriented, and ambitious self-starterCommitment to customer service excellenceStrong people skills and the ability to work well with different personalities is key along with the ability to communicate to various levels within an organization
