The Society of American Foresters (SAF) is the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry profession in the United States. The Membership & Local Units Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of the membership renewal process and ensures the accuracy of our member records. This position is the technical point of contact for SAF's community platform as well. The Membership & Local Units Manager coordinates and implements member recruitment and retention efforts with staff and state societies. This individual will assist the Director of Membership's work with other departments (publications, communications, education, accreditation, policy, state, and local associations) to help ensure a valuable member experience is being provided at all stages of the membership lifecycle.

Working in conjunction with external vendors, this individual will assist the Director of Membership with the execution of any new membership programs, services, or special events designed to raise the profile of membership in SAF throughout the natural resources and related association community. The Membership & Local Units Manager will report to the Director of Membership.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Membership Recruitment, Retention, and Reporting:

Manages the membership renewal processEnsures the accuracy of member recordsServe as technical point of contact for SAF's community platformCoordinates and implements member retention efforts with staff and state societiesCoordinates and implements state society dues changesAssists with the collection of membership dues and state society dues disbursementAssists efforts to increase membership and retain existing membership base.Develops an understanding of new member onboarding program to ensure engagement and understanding of member benefits and resources.Act as lead on annual convention registrationTechnology:

House of Society Delegates (HSD):

Serves as staff liaison to HSDCoordinating HSD meetingsServes as lead for leadership centralManages HSD assessment fees for in-person meeting

Serve as staff liaison of Business Managers groupCapitol Christmas Tree:

Lead state society coordination with creation of ornaments and professional storytelling associated with the Capitol Christmas TreeOther:

Undergraduate degreeExperience with membership in a professional society or associationExperience with volunteer committees are a plus2-5 years of experience in membership sales, recruitment and retention programs, and advertising activities for membership-based organizations.Experience with an Association Management SystemPreferred Education/Skills:

Hybrid, with 2 days in the office per week.Candidate must reside within 30-mile commuting distance of Washington, DC

Salary

$60,000-$65,000 annually
