Position Summary
Harness is seeking a seasoned VP of Engineering to lead and scale our high-performing, growth-minded engineering organization in the Enterprise SaaS space. In this role, you will set a strategic vision, drive technical excellence, and foster a collaborative environment to deliver meaningful value to our customers. With a deep background in software engineering and architecture, you’ll leverage your expertise to lead cross-functional teams and build strong relationships across the organization. This position requires a proven leader with experience in fast-paced, complex environments and a track record of delivering impactful results in the software lifecycle/delivery space.About the role
Build and retain a growth-minded Enterprise SaaS organization: you know what it takes to go from startup to scale-up.Vision & Direction: You will set the charter for your organization and understand how to deliver value to customers.Managerial and interpersonal leadership: You will effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering and interact and work with engineers at all levels.Influence: build and maintain strong relationships. Align your team and stakeholders to what’s best for Harness.Deep understanding of software engineering and architecture - you will lead with a developer mindset from your past experience, while remaining focused on leadership excellence.Exercise world class cross functional leadership with all Harness orgs.Use your past expertise in delivering products in software lifecycle/delivery space.Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, fast moving, unstructured, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments.About you
A seasoned technology leader with experience in a growth-minded Enterprise SaaS organization: you know what it takes to both scale and sustain high-performing teams. Prior startup experience is a must.Strong technical background in the DevOps domain.Vision & Direction: You have experience leading (as a Sr Director/VP) an organization and understand how to deliver value to the customers.A problem solver, able to balance competing priorities, strong process orientation, and ability to manage through complexity and rapid change.Excellent leadership skills and interpersonal skills: You can effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering and interact and work with engineers at all levels.Influence: You build strong relationships through your expertise and align your team and stakeholders to what’s best for Harness.Deep understanding of software engineering and architecture - you’ve been a developer in the past but are focused on leadership now.Experience partnering with cross-functional leaders across a globally distributed organization and exercising sound judgment.Experience delivering products in software lifecycle/delivery space with a deep technical background in managing complex architectures and design in Java/Golang stack.Track record of delivery in high growth and resource constrained environments.You are a hands-on leader with a "can do" attitude and a bias for action; gets it done, on time every time without cutting corners.Previous experience at a VP level or above leading a team of at least 200 across multiple time zones.Work Location
