Summary

Serves as a primary contact with employees on labor and benefit related issues. Responsible for performance management programs, recruiting, and retention of Henderson employees. Participates in various Human Resources initiatives and serves as backup to various HR functions.

Essential FunctionsProvide contract interpretations and administer the provisions of USWA collective bargaining agreement. This includes assisting with the investigation of complaints, grievance processing through 3rd step, arbitration prep, discipline hearings and contracting out meetings. Participate in preparation for arbitration cases.Prepare information, analyze, make recommendations for and participate in labor contract negotiations.Assist on issues including performance management, termination, career development, harassment, discrimination and other personnel issues.Act as business partner for managers and supervisors providing counseling and support in dealing with employer/employee relations' issues and interpretation/application of employment practices and procedures.Investigate and respond to allegations or complaints regarding harassment or work environment issues.Interpret, consistently apply, document and represent the Company in employee relations and other personnel related matters. Communicate policies to facilitate a common understanding and application throughout the facility.Administer various employee benefit programs, such as group health insurance (medical, pharmaceutical, vision and dental), accident and disability insurance, savings plans, life insurance plans, personal choice (flex) plans, employee assistance program and relocation policy.Administer implementation of new benefit programs; arranges and conducts employee information presentations, enrollments and new hire orientation.Maintain all applicable data in applicable HR information system (SAP), including benefit enrollment and changes.Administer and approve non-work related medical leave of absence - Sickness & Accident and Salary Continuance benefits and FMLA leave.Prepare and present pension calculations and insurance information for retirement meetings.Locating and Scheduling Training from Outside (Colleges, Vendors, etc.) the plant, as requiredResponsible for recruiting, screening, hiring of employees and plant level salaried employees; coordinate internal postings for non-bargaining jobs.Facilitate orientation of new hires; work with safety and quality organizations to ensure compliance with their goals and objectives for new employees.Prepare new and revise old job descriptions as needed for all classes of employees. Classify according to applicable system.Process and track employment applications and assist in other employment activities as directed.Prepare Henderson AAP and EEO reports.Attend grievance meeting and other labor relations meetings to gain in-depth understanding of labor/management dynamics.Additional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the development of and coordinate the implementation of Henderson HR department goals and objectives.Publish periodic reports such as overtime, headcount, seniority, attendance, and various SAP reports.Working with the Learning & Development group, assist in the development and implementation of organizational training/development issues.Participate in Human Resources initiatives.Maintenance of relevant information in SAP.Alleviate and remedy employee complaints and concerns.Other duties as assigned.Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor, Industrial Relations, Business or related field.

3 to 5 years of generalist experience including: benefits, labor relations, recruiting, and employee relations.

Special Skills

Union experience preferred; PHR certification preferred
