Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team in Birmingham, AL. This full-time position offers the opportunity to represent clients across Alabama in a wide range of criminal defense matters. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, particularly in criminal law, and be committed to providing quality defense while working collaboratively with a dedicated legal team.Duties:Represent clients in criminal cases across Alabama, handling all aspects of defense work.Prepare legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.Attend court hearings, trials, and depositions, providing strong advocacy for clients.Conduct legal research to support defense strategies and case preparation.Work closely with a team of attorneys and support staff to manage cases effectively.Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with all legal procedures and deadlines.Communicate regularly with clients to update them on case progress and provide legal counsel.Collaborate with other legal professionals to strategize and build defense cases.Requirements:At least 1 year of experience in criminal defense or litigation.Strong courtroom experience, with a focus on criminal law preferred.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in case management.Ability to work effectively within a team environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Must be a current member in good standing with the Alabama State Bar.Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the Alabama State Bar is required.Skills:Strong litigation skills, particularly in criminal defense matters.Proficiency in legal research and case management.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple cases.Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
