Job Description:Rhodes College is seeking to hire a new position of Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Effectiveness is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data and analytics strategy to advance the strategic vision of the institution. Reporting to the Provost, the AVP will provide comprehensive leadership in advancing evidence-based decision-making, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with accreditation standards and reporting requirements. This leader is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of a scalable data infrastructure and architecture strategy to support college-wide analysis and reporting across platforms, including the development of a centralized data repository to store and transform raw data to enhance reporting. The AVP will promote an institutional culture that enhances coordination among various data stewards at the College, including academic affairs, athletics, development, enrollment, finance, human resources, and student life.Job duties include but are not limited to the following:Creation and Management of Data Architecture and Centralized Data RepositoryDevelop, implement and maintain systems to collect, extract, verify, compile, analyze, disseminate and present reliable and accurate data and information from the College’s management information systems, national databases and other sources.Maintain data accuracy and troubleshoot complex data problems, which include but are not limited to programming, coding structures, data input and report generators.Work to broaden the knowledge of college data, standardize data transformation, and influence data handling across campus.Serve as Co-Chair of the Data Governance Committee with the Chief Information Officer to develop and implement frameworks that ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance.Development of Data Strategy and Oversight of Institutional ResearchManage the operation of the Institutional Research Office, its day-to-day activities, priorities and budgets.With the support of two data analyst positions, fulfill internal and external data requests from college administration and offices, faculty, students, state and federal agencies and other educational institutions.Ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines, and other external agency requirements (e.g. IPEDS, Common Data Set).Design and build automated analytics tools and self-service dashboards to enhance decision-making and support operational efficiency.Provide ongoing training for faculty, staff, and senior leadership on data management, governance, report writing, and the appropriate use of analytics tools, including AI technologies.Collaborates closely with the Associate Provost and the Associate Dean for Assessment and Academic Effectiveness in advancing the College’s assessment and accreditation efforts.Job Qualification Requirements:Master’s degree required (preferably in a research-related field such as statistics, social science, or data analytics).Five years’ professional experience in higher education research, data management, and/or data analysis required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills, as well as demonstrated business analysis, systems data modeling, analytic and consultative, and project management skills required.Extensive knowledge of various types of data storage methods, as well as technical awareness across multiple systems and platforms, including but not limited to systems such as Workday, Slate, and Raiser’s Edge.Proficient in advanced concepts of Microsoft 365 (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) and other Office suite products to increase efficiency/turnaround of data requests.Experience with advanced analytics, including but not limited to a variety of data analysis tools and techniques that include machine learning, SQL, relational databases, predictive modeling, neural networks, and AI to aid in forecasting future outcomes.Demonstrated knowledge of current higher education issues, including the challenges confronting small liberal arts colleges.Demonstrated ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations and to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to lead teams, collaborate across organizational lines, and build relationships across campus.Proficient in writing and presenting data-rich reports that are easily understood by decision-makers and other stakeholders.Expertise in use of data visualization tools.A complete application includes a cover letter and a resume including three professional references.Rhodes offers an excellent
