About this opportunity:Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Engineer, Refinery Scheduling Tool based out of our regional Columbus, OH office to improve, lead and innovate our scheduling processes for our refineries located in Lima, OH; Toledo, OH; and Superior, WI.
What you’ll do:
Spearhead the development and implementation of a standardized scheduling tool for Cenovus Downstream. Collaborate with crude and product schedulers to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
Ongoing Support and Optimization: Provide continuous support for existing scheduling tools, ensuring they remain effective and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of the business.
Seamless Integration: Coordinate the implementation of the new scheduling tool, ensuring a smooth transition and integration with existing systems while minimizing disruptions to daily operations.
Who you are:
Legally authorized to work in the US.
5+ years’ experience in Refining, Downstream Supply, or Product Scheduling environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience with scheduling tools such as ASPEN Orion, AVEVA Schedule, etc., and understanding of refinery unit processes.
Preferred:
Equivalent experience in chemical engineering or a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
Experience in scheduling an asset for either crude optimization or product blending and scheduling.
Previous work experience in Process Engineering, Economics, Scheduling, or Supply/trading.
Analyze data and use it to positively influence business decisions.
Broad commercial experience both within a refinery and marketing environment.
Understanding of crude supply logistics and trading, product marketing and logistics, and deep understanding of refinery economics.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with collaborators at all levels.
Proven track record of successful project management and implementation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Understanding of refining economics, with a preference for experience running LP (linear programming) software and analyzing output reports.
Ability to work in ambiguous situations, remain flexible, and successfully adapt to a variety of working environments.
