About this opportunity:

Cenovus Energy is looking for a Manager, Backcasting & Optimization for our Columbus, OH office. Reporting to the Senior Manager, LP Health, Tools & Systems, the Backcasting and Optimization Manager will lead a dedicated team of backcasting and optimization engineers across our downstream sites. This individual will oversee the monthly backcasting process for downstream assets, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of asset LP models, and providing vital support to the Downstream Commercial organization. Being instrumental in enhancing our analytical capabilities and driving operational excellence within the team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

What you'll do:

Asset Model Ownership:

Assume full ownership of local asset models, ensuring their accuracy, relevance, and alignment with operational goalsContinuously enhance and update the Asset LP by integrating process data from unit mass balances, backcasting, monitoring tools, and other relevant technical asset informationLead the annual constraint challenge sessions and maintain the database to verify that accurate constraints are applied within the asset modelsCollaborate effectively with engineering and operations teams to gather insights and feedback, driving ongoing improvements and optimizations of asset models

Backcasting Management:

Ensure timely presentation and distribution of monthly backcasting results to key collaborators, facilitating informed decision-making.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze backcasting outcomes and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Who you are:

Legally authorized to work in the US and Canada10+ years in the Oil & Gas sector with a strong emphasis on Refining and EconomicsBachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant field such as Business, Finance, or EconomicsPreferred:

Extensive experience in backcasting and optimization within refinery settings or similar environmentsProven track record of successful project management and implementation; backcasting processes will need to be consistently implemented across all assetsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational excellenceExceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with partners at all levelsAbility to lead and mentor a team of engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growthFamiliarity with economic modeling tools, particularly SpiralWhat we offer:
