Job Description:
- Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with varying health issues, from simple to complex, in a hospital setting.- Assume responsibility for a designated group of patients.- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders.- Assist physicians in examinations and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients; observe physiological manifestations and intervene when necessary.- Administer medication as prescribed.- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.- Deliver competent patient care.- Communicate with patients and families about care plans during hospitalization and at discharge.- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.- Delegate tasks to support staff.- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.- Maintain good working relationships with other employees.- Strong verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to effectively respond to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.- Basic computer skills.
Education:
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or higher) from a board-approved program.
