SUMMARY:Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Principals of Teaching and Learning, this position provides administrative and secretarial services for the main office. In addition to general duties, this position oversees the office activities in support of services provided to students, parents and staff, and handles highly confidential and sensitive information in a fast-paced environment. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize the diversified workload, and the ability to work with students and the public is a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares written materials (i.e., schedules, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.Serves as a conduit for communication between administrators, staff, parents and students.Compiles data from a variety of sources (attendance, student discipline, etc.) for the purpose of complying with legal and/or administrative requirements.Maintains documents, files and records.Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties by appropriate means of communication.Assists in supervision of student assistantsQUALIFICATIONS:
A positive, professional attitude.Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively deal with conflict.Excellent technical skills; must demonstrate knowledge of a variety of computer software and database applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Good organizational skills, with the ability to problem solveAbility to handle sensitive and confidential situations; position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacyAbility to multi-task and work with multiple interruptions.Previous office experience required; minimum of a high school diploma required.Spanish-speaking skills are desirablePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
