The Director of Interventional Radiology assumes responsibility for multidisciplinary activities of the Interventional Radiology department, including the management of patient care and the overall nursing and operational component of the department. Pursues the development and operational efficiency of the Interventional Radiology department in terms of quality of care, volume, scope of services, and cost effectiveness. Exercises shared responsibility for maintaining an appropriate balance of cooperation, communication, and integration among the organization's directors and matrix managers in order to ensure an efficient and progressive environment that carries out a program of quality patient care management. Promotes the growth of the department through the recruitment of key personnel and the development of staff through teaching opportunities, professional mentorship, research and other staff development activities. Works closely with the hospital medical staff, administration, department heads, ancillary services, and nursing personnel with regards to all aspects of the Interventional Radiology department. Responsible for managing patient scheduling, staff productivity, collections and receivables, and controlling operational expenses. Administrative tasks such as financial report review, revenue posting, and staff payroll are a part of the operational responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Provides the leadership framework for planning, directing, coordinating and improving services of the Division that are responsive to the needs of the Jackson Health System (JHS).Oversees the Vascular and Neuroendovascular programs of Interventional Radiology as well as all of Radiologic Nursing for Diagnostic, Breast Health Center (BHC), and Radiation Oncology.Ensures that all areas of responsibility reach or exceed the standards required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals, State of Florida License requirements, and all other state or federal regulatory bodies.Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programs to provide comprehensive quality care to all patients within areas of responsibilities.Develops, implements, and supports strategies to elevate quality and innovative nursing practice.Develops and monitors departmental operating budgets, which include personnel, contractual services, supplies and capital equipment, and monitors and analyzes services that are presently being provided and need to be provided in the best interest of the JHS and the community.Manages IR inventory and procurement process for the department, and ensures medical staff are compliant with research related projects and devices/equipment.Establishes departmental goals and objectives with target dates for completion.Recruits, hires, develops, and retains high performance teams through training/education, coaching, expectation setting and accountability.Develops and maintains effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, and supports the Trauma Center and Stroke Comprehensive Programs as it related to IR-related procedures.Provides leadership support in the development and execution of the Performance Improvement Program.Assures continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services provided to patients.Establishes standards of performance for all personnel and ensures that those performances are properly evaluated and based on the productivity and the contribution of each employee to the overall organization.Makes effective decisions based on data analysis, organizational observations, and cost controls.Creates a positive, ethical, and respectful work environment by promoting CARE values.Carries out the strategic and long-range planning for the service line by performing gap analysis and coordinating assessment measures.Recommends improvements of facilities, including renovations, purchase of new equipment, and expanding or adding new services.Monitors all aspects of quality assurance and improvement, works closely with administration and physicians to assess and improve the service line's performance, and incorporates continuous performance improvement into operations.Education
Bachelor's degree in related field is required.Master's degree is strongly preferred.Experience
Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience.Management experience is required.At least 3 years of Nursing Leadership experience is highly preferredAt least 5 years of inpatient nursing experience is highly preferredLicense/Certification
Licensed as RT, ARRT or RN required.Leaders performing direct patient care are required to have a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
