Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an Accountant for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois to perform professional accounting and auditing work involving the maintenance and examination of a complex support or decentralized accounting system with a variety of detailed control accounts such as Locally Held Funds. Maintains, examines and reconciles general account books, records and documents. Examines, reconciles and posts information abstracted from detailed account books and related reports. Assists in preparing or prepares, examines, reconciles and analyzes difficult statements or reports.
Essential Functions
Performs professional accounting and auditing work involving the maintenance and examination of a complex support or decentralized accounting system with a variety of detailed control accounts such as Locally Held Funds.Liaison for Quarterly orders of Security Uniform and other Security items.Serves as facility representative in Interagency communications between Elgin Mental Health Center and the Department of Central Management Services for Collections, Jury Duty and other miscellaneous issues.Serves as backup to Accountant Advanced and Account Tech in Accounting Department as necessary.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge. skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in business administration and accounting or four (4) years of technical accounting experience.
*Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate in proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
