Tact Staff is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in South Charleston, West Virginia. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel Unit: L&D/PP/MB - Level II REQUIRED CERT: AWHONN & NRP, BLS, for MB - of L&D Beds: 6 - of OR Suites: 2 - Antepartum Beds: 8 - of triage beds: 3 but will triage as many as we have open beds - of Postpartum beds: 10 - of births per day, per year: 775 per year, 2 per day; however, this is dependent on scheduled C- Sections, inductions, spontaneous labor and emergencies - Do ratios follow AWHONN guidelines?: Yes - Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring for OB, NRP and BLS for MB OB tech- needs to be a graduate of a surg tech program. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Low- and high-risk mothers and neonates. Services include inpatient, observation, and short stay patients who may have medical or surgical problems related to pregnancy as well. 32 weeks and above for singletons, 30 weeks and above for twins. Preeclampsia, gestational diabetics. PP- can take post op hysterectomies, gyn surgeries. Covers antepartum, labor, PP and circulating c-sections. - Experience: For L and D: Circulate, C-Sections, Labor, Recover, OB Triage; For MB/NBN, attend deliveries, assign APGARs, breastfeeding assistance, PP couplet, discharge teaching. Preference if nurse can float between labor and delivery and pp. Two years of experience in the specialty. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin occasionally (currently these drips will stay in antepartum, even after delivery) - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse without patient assignment/House Supervisor 24-7. Charge will attend high risk deliveries or deliveries with a new nurse. - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit?: No C.N.As/Yes, surgical techs- function as PCT when not assisting in surgery. - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: No- on call. 20 minute response time. Anesthesia is in house 24/7. - RT Equipment: Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High flow nasal cannula - Is there tele on this unit?: It is available; however, 4P would monitor and 4P has a MT 24-7. The 4P Charge nurse would read strips for L and D - EFM System: Yes- Phillips OB trace view. Intellispace perinatal - Next year will be Eipc and centricity - Shifts & Scheduling: 6:45 am to 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm to 7: 15 am - Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other - Holiday Requirement: Rotational - Is there a call or standby requirement? Yes, if flexed down for scheduled shift hours, may be required to take on call. In a four-week schedule, required to take on call two, 12 hour shifts. - Floating Requirements: Cover L&D/PP. No floating outside of the unit. - Scrub Color/Dress code: RN/LPNs - Navy scrubs, OR Techs - Surgical attire, WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip-ups, may be worn in grey, black, navy or royal blue. Solid undershirts may be worn under scrub top in matching color or white, black or gray. Closed toed shoes, no crocs. - Unit/Department specific orientation: General hospital orientation, 8 Hours nursing orientation. 8 hour meditech if no experience. 3-4 12 hour orientation shifts with a preceptor Tact Medical Staffing Job ID 493565.
