We administer the Downtown Business Improvement District to manage clean and safe programs in addition to marketing, advocacy, residential attraction, and public safety. We are passionate about building community and ensuring that downtown Sioux Falls remains a place of vibrancy, creativity, and opportunity for all.Role Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking CEO to lead DTSF in the next phase of downtown Sioux Falls’ growth and transformation. The ideal candidate will be a strategic visionary with strong leadership skills, capable of building relationships across public and private sectors while driving key initiatives. As CEO, you will oversee organizational operations, ensure financial sustainability, and promote a vibrant and inclusive downtown. This position requires local presence and cannot be performed remotely.A Typical Day Might Include:Collaboration: Work with city and regional partners on downtown development projects and strategic initiatives.Local Focus: Oversee projects that align with DTSF’s mission of growing culture, community, and commerce.Relationship Building: Engage and build strong partnerships between local businesses, government agencies, and civic organizations to foster downtown growth.Metrics & Communication: Develop performance metrics and tracking systems to measure the success of key initiatives like membership and safety.Strategic Vision: Lead the development and execution of the DTSF strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the 2035 Downtown Plan and the Downtown Business Improvement District’s goals.Community Engagement: Create opportunities to involve a broad spectrum of stakeholders, from business owners to residents, in shaping downtown’s future.Entrepreneurship Support: Cultivate a downtown environment that supports innovation, new businesses, and creative initiatives.Inclusivity: Advocate for underrepresented voices and ensure that all community members feel connected to the vibrancy of downtown Sioux Falls.Operational Leadership: Oversee financial operations, organizational development, and staff management, ensuring DTSF’s long-term sustainability and growth.Requirements

Qualifications You’ll Need:Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred.Experience: Minimum of 10 years in leadership roles, including 5 years of executive experience in civic engagement, urban place management, or a related field.Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and execute a long-term strategic vision for urban or regional development.Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and building high-performing, inclusive work environments.Advocate: Proven ability to serve as primary advocate for the stewardship and promotion of downtown and the interests of the organization's members, stakeholders, and residents.Collaboration: Strong ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including local government, private sector leaders, and community organizations.Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of representing DTSF at public and media events.Innovation: A visionary thinker who brings fresh ideas and innovative approaches to urban place management and community building.Accountability: Strong track record of financial oversight and resource management to drive organizational sustainability.Compensation:Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan; paid time off (PTO); and holidays.
