Position Description
Software Architect, Principal – Java & Cloud Solutions
As a Principal Architect, you will drive the architectural vision for scalable, high-performance application systems using Java and related technologies, working autonomously on advanced projects and complex technical challenges that are critical to the organization. You will leverage your expertise in cloud and DevOps to shape the future of our applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, state-of-the-art solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect Scalable Solutions : Design and implement robust, high-performance application systems that meet enterprise IT standards, utilizing Java and modern cloud platforms.
Lead Legacy System Migration : Guide the transition of Java legacy systems to the cloud, ensuring a seamless, optimized migration and enabling the adoption of cloud-native architectures.
Optimize CI/CD Processes : Develop and oversee CI/CD pipelines that streamline the end-to-end development, testing, and deployment cycle. Partner closely with DevOps teams to automate testing, deployment, and continuous monitoring.
Integrate Emerging Technologies : Spearhead the integration of Generative AI and Microsoft Co-Pilot to enhance application functionalities and drive efficiencies across the development lifecycle through code suggestions, automated refactoring, and debugging.
Architectural Leadership : Create and communicate architectural blueprints, system models, and technical specifications, providing direction and mentorship to development teams and promoting knowledge sharing within the workgroup.
Performance Tuning & Optimization : Oversee performance tuning, load testing, and system optimization for high availability and reliability, ensuring that all applications meet performance and resilience requirements.
Security and Compliance : Implement industry-leading security practices and ensure all applications comply with relevant regulations, maintaining architectural integrity and alignment with enterprise standards.
Stakeholder Engagement : Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand strategic needs, translating them into actionable technical requirements and scalable solutions.
Thought Leadership : Stay at the forefront of trends in Java, cloud computing, DevOps, and AI, leveraging this expertise to influence and drive forward-thinking architectural decisions that support long-term organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Experience : 10+ years of experience in application architecture, Java development, and cloud platforms, with a proven track record of delivering advanced, complex technical projects.
Expertise : In-depth knowledge of Java, cloud platforms, CI/CD practices, and DevOps principles, with demonstrated success in architecting and implementing high-performance, scalable solutions.
Leadership : Recognized as a subject-matter expert, providing thought leadership and technical guidance within the workgroup, contributing to project and solution goals.
Compensation and Benefits
The projected compensation range for this position is $158,900 to $192,000 with a target salary of
$176,600
per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
