Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

The Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) is looking for a Receiving Inspection and Test (RI&T) Supplier Quality Inspector in Richland, WA. The RI&T Supplier Quality Inspector prepares, preforms, and documents inspection and testing activities on procured equipment and material to verify conformance to specified requirements. Responsibilities include physical and visual inspections, material testing, reporting, in-depth Quality Verification Documentation reviews, technical and/or administrative preparation for RI&T activities. The successful candidate must have strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, the ability to work independently, proven problem-solving abilities, and a can-do attitude. This position reports to the RI&T Supervisor at the WTP project.

Full-Time In Office: This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Major Responsibilities:

Interfaces with the RI&T Supervisor for direction and assignments.Performs inspection and testing activities in accordance with project procedures, requirements defined in Purchase Orders and Material Acceptance Plans (MAP)/ Material Receiving Instructions (MRI).Performs in-depth reviews of Quality Verification Document packages (e.g., MTRs, NDE reports, PMI reports, pressure test reports, etc.) both at the WTP site and at remote supplier locations.Performs physical inspections activities both at the WTP site and at remote supplier locations which may include the use of Material Testing Equipment.Responsible for completing detailed inspection records.Responsible for preparation and maintenance of technical and other pertinent documents required for inspection and testing activities.Prepares and/or completes technical and administrative documents and detailed inspection reports associated with inspections and tests including Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) testing, and testing performed in accordance with nonconformance report Engineering dispositions.Provides detailed reports of inspection and test results to engineering for evaluation when required.Attain and maintain required training and qualification for RI&T Level II inspector as identified in the SQ quality programs and specified by the Supplier Quality Manager in individual training profiles.Manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.This job description is not intended to include every duty, task, or instruction for which an employee is responsible. Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and at least 5-8 years of experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, or quality assurance; or in lieu of formal degree, a minimum of 9-12 years of experience in a field of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, or quality assurance.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.Experience with major commodities typically procured for global business unit projects, recognized Codes and Standards, manufacturing methods, inspection/examination/testing techniques, and document review and implementation.Familiarity with Engineering P&ID and Drawing development for use in document review is essential.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Advance experience of Microsoft Office programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and email, etc. (i.e., Outlook, WORD, Excel, Adobe Acrobat).Physical ability to walk on uneven surfaces typically found at construction and operating plant sites, climb ladders, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.Reasoning skills for problem identification and resolution.Familiar with the use of standard measuring and test equipment (M&TE) used to perform inspection and testing.Previous experience with knowledge of current design codes and standards such as ASME, D1.1, B31.1, B31.3 and AWS.Previously certified Level II Qualified Inspector with a minimum 6,000 hours in method.
