Summary:
The Assistant Director of Development Marketing plays a crucial role in advancing the College’s mission through strategic execution of marketing initiatives that support fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing comprehensive marketing strategies that foster meaningful connections with donors, alumni, and potential benefactors, as well as raising the profile of the College’s philanthropic efforts. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Advancement team, communications staff, and external partners to create innovative campaigns that inspire donor engagement and increase contributions to the College.
Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and oversees marketing strategies and campaigns that support the College’s development and fundraising goals, with special emphasis on the College’s planned giving program.
Collaborates with the Advancement team to create targeted marketing materials that align with capital campaigns, annual fund drives, planned giving, and other fundraising initiatives.
Utilizes data analytics to track and assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize donor engagement and contributions.
Leads the creation of compelling content for print, digital, and social media channels that effectively communicate the impact of philanthropy at the College of Wooster.
Oversees the development of donor-facing collateral, including infographics, brochures, newsletters, email and social media campaigns, and website content.
Manages the creation and dissemination of key messages around giving opportunities, endowment funds, scholarship support, and other institutional priorities.
Oversees the editorial content and design for the Advancement website.
Collaborates with the College’s Marketing and Communication’s team to ensure alignment of development marketing with the College’s broader branding and messaging.
Partners with Alumni and Family Engagement to coordinate marketing efforts that engage alumni in both giving and participation in events and volunteer opportunities.
Collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus departments to identify compelling stories and messaging opportunities that highlight the impact of giving on campus life and student success.
Develops and implements digital marketing strategies, including email marketing, social media, and online giving platforms, to reach new and existing donors.
Leverages social media platforms to build awareness and promote a culture of giving within the College’s community.
Stays current with digital marketing trends and technologies to continuously improve the College’s online presence and fundraising initiatives.
Oversees relationships with external vendors, agencies, and consultants as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or development, with a focus on fundraising or higher education.
Proven success in creating and executing donor-focused marketing campaigns that drive engagement.
Experience working within higher education or nonprofit sectors.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Skills:
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor-centered messaging.
Demonstrated creativity and innovation in marketing and donor communications.
Knowledge:
Proficiency in digital marketing tools (social media, email marketing, and web CMS).
Familiarity with fundraising principles and donor engagement strategies is highly desirable.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
Precision, accuracy, excellent attention to detail, outstanding ability to check and correct own work.
Knowledge of donor management software, CRM systems, and fundraising analytics.
Strong analytical skills to interpret data and adjust marketing strategies accordingly.
Abilities:
Strong professional ethics and discretion with an attitude of respect for all employed at CoW.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally required to sit and stoop or kneel.
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
