Job Title: Deputy SLA/Chief LREC Officer, SCOPESLocation: Bogota, Colombia - Bogota, 110111 COMiami, FL - Miami, FL 33109 US (Primary)Category: ContractorsSummary:The Unconventional is seeking a qualified Deputy Senior Language Authority (SLA) / Chief LREC Officer to provide support to the U.S. South Command (USSOUTHCOM) in Southern Command Operations Planning and Engagement Support (SCOPES). USSOUTHCOM is responsible for providing contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation in its assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR), which currently includes Central America, South America, and the Caribbean Sea.The USSOUTHCOM mission is to deter aggression, defeat threats, rapidly respond to crises, and build regional capacity by working with partner nations and mission partners to enhance security and defend the U.S. homeland and national interests. The objectives of the SCOPES TO include the following: provide integrated services that promote, facilitate, and enhance USSOUTHCOM capabilities to meet the Commander’s priorities.Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:Supports the Senior Language Authority.Oversees the design and execution of language and cultural education programs, ensuring that military personnel acquire the necessary skills to effectively engage in diverse environments.Assesses language and cultural proficiency needs, coordinates with various military and educational institutions, and integrates these capabilities into operational planning and execution.Enhances military operations through expertise in languages, cultural awareness, and regional knowledge.Oversees the quality of translated written materials and real-time verbal interpretation during exercises and training, ensuring clear communication simulating local populations and authorities.Ensures that cultural briefings and training sessions educate military personnel on regional customs and sensitivities, and offers advisory support on cultural issues that might impact missions.Assists in gathering and analyzing intelligence related to specific regions, offering strategic insights to inform mission exercises.Could serve as Site Lead.Required Qualifications:Will have 10-15 years experience in DoD Language programs and knowledge of DoDIs such as 5160.70 among others to include familiarity with the Service level Orders pertaining to LREC.Have experience in gathering LREC requirements and conducting needs analysis, in order to support the design and execution of meaningful and sustainable language and cultural education programs that align to mission(s).Have strong interpersonal communication skills to advise leaders on military operations' impact on the AOs through expertise in languages, cultural awareness, and regional knowledge.Have experience in the vetting and management of programs with requirements for translation and interpretation of both written material and verbal.Supports and validates cultural briefings relative to target audience.Assists in gathering and analyzing intelligence related to specific regions, offering strategic insights to inform mission exercises.Demonstrated ability to plan and execute long-term strategic goals and objectives.Demonstrated analytic abilities to evaluate complex data, resolve inconsistencies, and propose innovative solutions to challenging problems.Must be a U.S Citizen.Possess a Master’s degree. The following may be used in lieu of a master degree and/or experience: PhD with 4+ years of experience, Bachelor’s degree with 18+ years of experience, Associates degree with 20+ years of experience, or High School diploma with 22+ years of experience.Clearance:

Requires a Top Secret/SCI clearanceTravel:

CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required. Travel to support mission requirements in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS), including locations outside of the SOUTHCOM AOR and AOI, SOUTHCOM Units, and Partner Nations may also be necessary.
