Position Overview
A Principal Consultant is a senior member of Mosaic’s consulting team and offers expertise, resources, and guidance to help Mosaic’s project teams and clients succeed. The Principal Consultant will support complex and strategic projects for our clients, providing expert guidance and delivering high-quality results. The Principal Consultant will also contribute to the growth and development of Mosaic’s consulting practice, mentoring junior consultants, developing new offerings, supporting business development efforts, and building long-term relationships with key stakeholders. The Principal Consultant has a proven record of accomplishment of consulting experience and project experience, as well as a focus and deep expertise in a consulting discipline (i.e., Change Management, Business Process, Program Management, Analysis, etc.) This individual will support project teams and work closely with subject matter experts, consulting team members, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality deliverables. This individual will coordinate with multiple stakeholders to consult on best practices. The Principal Consultant may function as an individual contributor, project manager, subject matter expert, or strategic advisor based on skill set, timing, and client and project needs. This role is expected to participate and/or lead a Mosaic Center of Excellence to drive best in class consulting standards to ensure client success.
Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Principal Consultant role are as follows:
General
Support consulting projects across Mosaic’s practice areas, ensuring client satisfaction, quality standards, and timely completion.
Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, communicating effectively throughout the project lifecycle, and always ensuring client satisfaction.
Function as an internal and external subject matter expert and provide thought leadership in at least one consulting discipline (i.e., change management, program management, business process, digital transformation, etc.)
Support pursuit of new business opportunities, including development of proposals, RFP responses, and client presentations.
Contribute to the development and improvement of Mosaic’s consulting methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Participate in or lead a Mosaic Center of Excellence.
Contribute to the repository of consulting processes and knowledge bank by contributing to conference presentations and whitepapers as appropriate.
Attain billable hours requirements.
Project Leadership and Client Relationship Management
Oversee, develop, or support the delivery of high-quality solutions to clients.
Collaborate with Client Delivery team, Sales, and Practice Area Leads to support definition of the project scope, objectives, and methodology.
Provide strategic advice, guidance, and support in area(s) of expertise to clients.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations, and providing strategic advice and solutions.
As required, facilitate workshops or interviews with client stakeholders and subject matter experts to generate business cases.
Effectively build relationships with key clients and stakeholders to influence program- and project-level direction.
Facilitate meetings and participate in working sessions with clients; communicate best practices to the client to aid in decision-making.
Lead design and development of strategic analysis engagements working closely with Sales and Practice Area Leads to drive additional business.
Leadership and Coaching
Lead and support small- and large-scale multi-disciplinary teams to assess client needs; design and implement approved solutions.
Guide teams in meeting project standards and specifications, mentoring them in consulting best practices.
Provide editorial peer review to ensure alignment with best practices and project guidelines and specifications.
Provide timely and effective coaching and performance feedback to team members, viewed as a trusted resource by the team and client.
Collaborate with Consulting Operations Leadership to support professional development of junior consultants.
Help junior consultants develop their skills, confidence, and career paths by providing feedback, guidance, and support.
Coach consultants interested in area(s) of expertise to support professional development and develop strong, well-rounded consulting team.
Actively share expertise internally by participating in and leading Mosaic peer-to-peer learning sessions such as Passport to Excellence, Project Showcases and other type of sessions as appropriate.

Skills and Experience
Advanced experience in training consulting or managing training projects.
Proven ability to independently manage small- and large-scale project teams and client relationships.
Experience working on project teams in a consultative environment with clients.
Advanced understanding and experience within the energy and utility sector or enterprise software implementations.
Advanced knowledge of training design, development, and delivery methodologies.
Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to lead and influence teams and clients.
Demonstrated experience designing and developing a variety of client solutions and deliverables.
Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations using advanced interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
Demonstrated project management skills with ability to meet deadlines and work in high-pressure environments.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade senior stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex and ambiguous situations.
Strong business acumen and understanding of mechanics of financial performance.

Work closely with consulting team to provide status updates and information regarding roadblocks, risks, and possibilities for additional opportunities.
External:
Develop trustworthy relationships with clients and project stakeholders. Independently interact in and effectively navigate through ambiguous and political client environments. Onsite work at client’s jobsite and onsite attendance of client and team meetings.
Education
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
MBA or master’s degree preferred.
Professional Certification in related field a plus. (i.e., PMP, Prosci, BPM, CBPA, etc.)

The compensation range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making hiring and compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to candidate skill set, consulting experience, training and education, competencies, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Mosaic strives to set salaries at, or near the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the range and it is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range for the position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $160,000.00 to $180,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program of up to 10% of annual compensation. The bonus program is dependent on a variety of factors including organizational and individual performance.
