Site Leader- Building Blocks PreSchoolJOB DESCRIPTIONGilbert Unified School District
Purpose Statement:The Site Leader is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and monitoring children's activities in the day-to-day operation of the Building Blocks program for 3 & 4 year olds at the school site.
Essential FunctionsRead and follow Building Blocks & GPS Employee Handbook.Follow all guidelines set forth by Department of Health Services. (DHS Licensing)Ensure registration process of students is complete and updated as needed.Maintain effective communication with school staff and principal.Create consistence classroom schedule adhering to location schedule; assigned lunch/recess.Implementation and instruction of supplied Building Block curriculum.Create and implement structured classroom behavior model.Follow Building Blocks formal behavior plan if needed.Complete daily reports for each student in attendance.Maintain availability to meet and consult with parents upon request.Adhering to DHS nutritional guidelines & completion of bi-weekly food orders.Meeting all required deadlines of Building Blocks paperwork; Monday Packets.Manage and supervise all Activity Leaders.Create manageable schedule for classroom duties amongst staff; prepping, cleaning, etc.Completion of all other duties as assigned.Other FunctionsAssists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: lesson and activity planning; behavior management techniques; safety practices and procedures; conflict resolution; and stages of child development/ behavior. Specific knowledge required: Familiarity and knowledge of all the rules and regulations of Department of Health Services (DHS).ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; working with constant interruptions; and availability to work, if needed, on half days and no school/camp days during the school year.
ResponsibilityResponsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the Organization's services.
Working EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 20% walking, and 75% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
Experience2+ years' experience with school age children in a licensed group setting, or any other combination of experience and education to successfully complete the job.
EducationA combination of experience and education to successfully complete the job.
Required TestingMust have negative TB Test documentation provided by a clinic or doctor, completed prior to and within 6 months of employment
Continuing Educ. / Training• Completes a minimum of eighteen (18) verifiable hours of approved training each year.• CPR/First Aid Recertification every two years
