Join the Iberia Team! We are currently searching for a Quality & Food Safety Manager to lead our quality, food safety and sanitation programs. This includes working with customers, suppliers, corporate personnel, and manufacturing staff. This includes working with customers, suppliers, and corporate personnel. This role oversees the food safety compliance and training of 8 distribution centers and 1 light manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for managing product/packaging compliance for almost 2000 SKUs, many of which are imported from overseas.
This position can be based out of our Miami, FL. Salary range begins at $100k annually and is commensurate with experience. Please send your salary requirements along with your resume for consideration.
Duties/Responsibilities:Develop and maintain score carding of suppliers from a quality and FSMA standpoint and in coordination with legal team.Vetting of suppliers based on quality and FSMA parameters in coordination with buying team.Develop and maintain sampling program to review products from a quality and dry weight/compliance standpoint.Responsible for keeping up to date packaging and labeling requirements under applicable regulatory scheme.Work in coordination with our food safety specialist to answer technical questions received by suppliers.Develop and manage a uniform food safety program for all sites. Ultimately select the appropriate third party for food safety certification.Be the liaison for FDA, USDA audits.Develop all quality, GMP, food safety SOPs as needed.Review and revise as needed quality assurance and sanitation training programs and processes for the light manufacturing facility.Investigates and responds to customer complaints through root cause analysis.Coordinate and participate in mock recalls.Position Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in food science, Biology, or other science related degree along with 5-7 years of overall professional experience in quality, compliance, sensory, contaminants, packaging integrity in food and beverage industry. with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management position or any combination of education and experience.Experience building food safety program from scratch to prepare for food safety audits based on distribution business with 1 light manufacturing facility. Work with stakeholders to confirm which regulatory standard is best suitable for the company.Broad knowledge and experience in quality and food safety management gained at successive levels of responsibility.Certifications required include Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), SQF Practitioner or other GFSI standard, and HACCP.Knowledge of FDA standards and FSMA Regulations.Experience with packaging compliance (understanding of labeling regulations)Experience with shelf life studiesLab experienceDemonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.Good prioritization skills. Ability to begin as a solo contributor before building out a team as the department develops. Ability to work with limited resources/scrappy environment.Understanding to balance the needs of the business while building out quality and compliance programs.Working knowledge of Prop 65 regulations.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Good research skills to stay up to date on relevant FDA regulations.Bilingual Spanish and English preferred, but not requiredPhysical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communicationRegular travel by airplane and automobile in conducting business is required.Ability to communicate orally with customers, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group.
