We are seeking to fill the position of "Accountant II." The work this person does will have a substantial impact on financial operations and reporting for our agency.

Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Finance the Accountant II will provide service to the agency by performing professional level accounting work in support of the business, budget and financial operations of the agency. Work is performed under general direction but is characterized by a moderate degree of independence. The Accountant II is distinguished from the Accountant I by more difficult and complex work requiring knowledge and interpretation of GAAP, GASB, GASB, HUD and IRS regulations. The position works with greater independence and has the responsibility for higher level operations and will work towards oversight of other department operations that have financial implications. This work will play an important role in accomplishing the Everett Housing Authority's mission: "The Everett Housing Authority creates affordable housing, fosters healthy communities where households thrive, and replaces systemic racism with equity for all."

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, the Accountant II will work to ensure that financial information produced by the agency is accurate and complies with ongoing and changing requirements. You will learn and follow agency policies and processes and be able to explain and guide staff to do the same. You will prepare or oversee preparation of certain financial transactions and reports in a timely and accurate manner. You will prepare other analysis and reports as needed throughout the year. You will work with others to help develop and document new processes as needed.

The Accountant II will play a vital role in similar work for the agency as a whole and will support the CFO, Deputy Director, and Controller in gathering information and conducting analysis as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business management or related field.2 years of related financial work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Financial practices, including accounting, budgeting, and forecasting;Principles and practices of modern financial management and techniques;Budget preparation and control; public sector experience beneficial;Principles and methods of effective communication;Recordkeeping and management techniques, including archival requirementEffectively use Microsoft suite of software programs; proficiency in Excel;
