We're looking for a CPA to lead our financial operations, refine systems, ensure precise reporting, and provide strategic insight to drive performance and policy enhancements. Highly preferred experience includes government contracting and cost accounting and strong preference given to local candidates able to work hybrid schedule of 2 days onsite per week in Manassas, VA. LI-Hybrid ZR Responsibilities General Ledger and Financial Systems: Develop, direct, and maintain the general ledger and related systems, including system structure development, chart of accounts design, internal controls, procedure development, and staff training. Oversee the maintenance and implementation of interactive computerized financial systems, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Accounting Policies and Compliance: Maintain and review accounting policies and procedures, improving controls to minimize risk. Be the subject matter expert on GAAP and verify compliance with governmental standards, particularly in government contracting and cost accounting. Oversee the annual audits of the organization's financial statements. Facilitate the compilation of data for tax returns and interact with tax advisors in the preparation of returns. Provide guidance on tax-efficient strategies. Team Management and Financial Support: Manage the Accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and staff accountants. Support the CFO with expertise in accounting knowledge, supervise financial reporting, and ensure compliance. Review revenue and costs by account and cost center each month for consistency, research any outliers, and make adjusting journal entries as needed. Review payroll each pay period with the Payroll Manager, providing limited backup/support as needed. Supervise and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Establish operational objectives and work plans, delegating assignments to direct reports. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 15 or more years' experience, including 8 or more years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience. CPA certification required Audit experience preferred Expertise in government contracting and cost accounting strongly preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental standards Experience in developing, directing, and maintaining general ledger and financial systems Proven ability to manage and train accounting teams Skilled in analyzing and interpreting financial data to improve systems and performance Experience with annual audits and ensuring accurate financial reporting Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills Strong communication and leadership abilities Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $200,000 to $220,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
