Job Overview:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll and cash flow management. Develop and maintain the system of internal accounting controls and financial reporting. Budgeting, forecasting and analysis. Work-In-Progress reporting & General Ledger. This position will work with senior management and operations managers and will report directly to owners.
Key Responsibilities• Financial Reporting : Oversee and ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports• Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasts, working closely with department head to monitor variances and identify areas.• Audit Coordination:
Liaise with external auditors during annual audits, enduring smooth processes and compliance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).• Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, and manage tax planning strategies.• Cash Management:
Monitor cash flow, maintain banking relationships, and manage cash forecasting to ensure the company has adequate liquidity• Accounting Operations:
Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll• Team Management:
Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Qualifications•Minimum 5 years of experience in construction accounting•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance•CPA desired but not required•Skilled in decision making and multi-tasking•Experienced in dealing with banks and other financial institutions•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Proficient at operating MS Excel
Nice to haves:•Experience with Sage Construction Management, Intacct Accounting software and Miter payroll
