Description:
Maintenance planners are responsible for coordinating all plannable maintenance work within the facility. There are hundreds of small tasks that need to be done to keep machinery and equipment in operating condition, especially for asset-intensive organizations such as manufacturers and distribution centers. Maintenance planners coordinate maintenance personnel and available resources while ensuring jobs get done on time. In other words, they create and assign work orders for maintenance tasks and ensure the right resources are available (eg: parts and inventory) to get the job done. As such, planners are key to having an efficient asset management program. They must establish strong relationships between key functions in the organization to avoid departmental silos, communication barriers, and increased downtime. Their goal is to reduce maintenance costs, minimize the maintenance backlog, extend asset life cycle, and increase output.
Accountability:
The Maintenance Planner are accountable for reducing equipment downtime, loss prevention, and related site costs by driving the organization to a planned proactive state by developing and using validated procedures. These procedures rely on the Planner to apply skilled competencies beyond the level of the technician in order to properly plan and coordinate manpower, parts, and materials for their assigned areas of responsibility. Maintenance Planners assists the maintenance manager in developing policy, procedures, and quality assurance development; maintaining appropriate job plans, records, and files to permit optimal execution and analysis of all planned work done.
Responsibilities:
•Detailed job planning and preparation
•Conduct analysis for job requirements
•Conduct job research
•Parts Management
•Maintain the eMaint. (CMMS) database
•Asset Management
•Manage all aspects of PMs, Work Orders, and Emergency Repairs
•Generate reports from the CMMS on equipment and mechanic performance
•Create sub-assemblies for all equipment
•Create new PM sheet on all new equipment
•Issue daily required parts to the maintenance team
•Create historical files
•CMMS preventive maintenance subject matter expert and trainer
•Daily meetings with maintenance leadership
Qualifications:
•5 years of experience in preventive and predictive maintenance
•Experience as an Engineering and/or Maintenance technician or equivalent experience
•Strong competencies in technical knowledge and project management
•Formal and hands-on training in the use of eMaint (CMMS)
•Good oral/written communication skills including presentation skills
•Good administrative and mathematical skills
•Able to read blueprints and shop drawings
Experience:
•Ability to keep multiple jobs in controlled motion - simultaneously
•Be a change agent in moving the Maintenance Organization to a proactive status
•Ability to bring about order - from chaos
•Active participation in team meetings note-taking distribution, organizing and facilitating meetings, oral presentations
•Achieving expected results without close supervision and delivering planning requirements to scope, time, and budget
