Job Description:
Position SummaryGuggenheim Securities ("GS") is seeking an experienced GIS Professional to join its Houston Energy group. The Houston Energy Investment Banking group at GS covers multiple sub-sectors of Energy, including energy transition, upstream, midstream, and oil services. GIS professionals are responsible for discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools, and creating & managing a digital library of geographic maps, among other duties. GIS professionals will need to create presentation quality maps for upstream oil & gas, midstream, carbon capture & sequestering, and renewable energy applications.
Essential Job Functions
Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping softwareDiscovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of dataDesigning digital maps with geographic data and other data sourcesCreating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical mapProducing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including oil and gas operator statistics and operations locationsDeveloping mapping applications and toolsConverting physical maps into a digital form for computer usageManaging a digital library of geographic maps in various file types
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in geology, geography, surveying, engineering, or related fieldOil & Gas Investment Banking experience is preferred
Basic Qualifications
Working experience / knowledge of ArcGISAttention to detail when creating mapsGood interpersonal skillsSIE Exam, Series 79 and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment
Work Location
This role is expected to be in the Houston office at least 4 days per week
