A-State participates in E-Verify.\ \ Position Summary: \ \ The Director ensures the day-to-day operations of the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home and the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum.\ \ Duties & Responsibilities: \ \
Manages the staff and ensures that established office hours and visitors hours are maintainedConducts group and individual toursPromotes the sites and arranges group and school tours.Develops programming for the museum, including special exhibits, educational programs and tours, special events and fund-raising programsIdentifies cost savings and new potential sources of revenueAssists in the development and implementation of interpretive exhibitsManages operation and development of physical facilities, including space utilization for special events, rentals, classes, conferences, seminars, tours, field trips, etc.Supervises performance of custodial and maintenance duties in the museum and on museum grounds in line with museum standardsIdentifies and arranges for major maintenance needs and other repairs and servicesSupervises computer and paper records for museum collections, including cataloging incoming accessionsSupervises museum communications, including web site updates and newsletterSupervises membership database and communications with members, donors and support groupsConducts ongoing research related to museum collections and storiesOther duties as assigned
\ \ Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: \ \ Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures\ \ Knowledge of house museum management, programs and services\ \ Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational management\ \ Ability to plan and administer museum programs\ \ Knowledge of state curriculum standards\ \ Ability to oversee the acquisition, storage, conservation, documentation, and registration of museum collections\ \ Knowledge of maintenance and grounds-keeping issues\ \ General Days/Hours: \ \ Monday - Friday\ 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.\ Additional hours as requested and/or needed\ Regular and reliable attendance\ \ Other: \ \ Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M. CST on the position closing date\ \ The Director of JCBH and STFM has regular contact with educators, community members, volunteers, university personnel and the general public\ \ Must travel between the two sites (and occasionally between other Arkansas Heritage Sites)\ \ Minimum Qualifications: \ \ The formal education equivalent of a Bachelor\'s Degree in museum studies, history, art education, literature, management, or a related field\ \ Three (3) years work experience in office management\ \ Other job related education\ \
