Job Summary :
The Director of Business Analytics will lead the data strategy for the Detroit Red Wings, leveraging analytics to support decision making across key areas -including ticket and premium sales, fan engagement, corporate partnerships, and operations. This role will collaborate with senior leadership, oversee a team of analysts, and ensure the successful implementation of data strategies to enhance performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Leadership:Lead the development and execution of the Club's data strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from various sources, including CRM, ticketing platforms, fan surveys, concessions, and digital engagement.Drive the application of advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and data visualization techniques to support strategic decision-making.Business Insights & Reporting:
Collaborate with department heads (Ticketing, Premium, Corporate Partnerships, Marketing, Operations, etc.) to identify data needs and deliver actionable insights that improve business outcomes.Design and maintain dashboards that track key performance indicators (KPIs) for different business areas.Support the creation of predictive models to improve ticket sales, optimize marketing campaigns, and enhance operations and guest experience.Team Leadership & Development:
Manage and mentor a team of analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.Ensure team members are equipped with the necessary tools and skills to excel, offering guidance on best practices for data management and analysis.Collaboration & Communication:
Serve as a key liaison between analytics and other departments to drive cross-functional projects.Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable strategies.Build relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners to ensure the team leverages best-in-class tools and methodologies.Innovation & Best Practices:
Stay on top of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics, continually seeking ways to innovate and improve processes.Advocate for a data-driven culture throughout the organization, promoting the adoption of analytics as a core business practice.Evaluate new technologies for revenue generating and time/cost savings potential.Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree required (quantitative discipline preferred). MBA/Master's degree preferred.5+ years of experience in sports and entertainment industry in a role focused on data, analytics and/or business strategy; must have ticketing data/system expertise.Experience managing a team of analysts, with proven success mentoring, guiding, developing, and growing a team.Deep experience with data analysis, BI tools, and data warehousing required.Clear and persuasive communicator of data-driven analyses and data methodologies to all audiences, regardless of level of data comprehension.Impeccable work ethic and a passion to make a difference.Ability to think creatively to leverage data to drive operational excellence.Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with key stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings articulating complex concepts.Positive, energetic attitude to achieve great things.
