area for aLitigation Legal Secretary . This position will be onsite in Fayetteville (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
Summary:
This Legal Secretary position will provide civil litigation support to partners and associates of the firm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Familiarity with basic pleadings, service of process requirements, and discoveryDrafting of basic pleadings and other legal documentsProcess state and federal court filings; knowledge of electronic filing requirementsReview, organize and index documentsDraft, file and monitor documents in electronic case sitesMaintain and organize documents in document management systemOversight of attorneys' billing (including time entry, editing and invoicing)Use Outlook to docket crucial litigation deadlinesEstablish and manage new client filesPerform clerical tasks (including drafting letters, memos, emails and other correspondence)Prepare and submit check requests, expenses reports, etc.Essential Skills:
Software Proficiencies
Microsoft OfficeAdobeiManage (or similar document management system)Elite 3E (or similar legal billing software)LegalCivil litigation experience is requiredEmployment law experience is preferredeBilling and law firm billing proceduresKnowledge of state and federal filing rules and proceduresTechnicalEdit and proofread documentsQuick and accurate typingDocument/file organization in a document management systemAbility to learn new and/or updated technology with easeSoft SkillsAttention to detailMulti-tasking and prioritizing simultaneous demands from several individualsEffectively communicate with others (both orally and in writing)Reliable, punctual and good attendanceQualifications:
At least 4 years of litigation experiencePhysical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
