Architectural Designer and Project Manager
to join our growing team in our
Orlando, FL
office. The Architect and Project Manager is a licensed professional with responsibility for project performance in terms of profit, quality, and client satisfaction. The role primarily involves project design and management of the internal team and external consultants while working with the principal in charge in interfacing with our clients. This is a leadership role that requires oversight, guidance and mentoring of others. Plans, organizes, and directs project design and work primarily focused on themed entertainment, attractions, cultural centers, mixed use destinations, and resort hospitality and includes the following:
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large size projects.
Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
Keeps the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
Leads the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent.
Assists in the negotiation and development of project agreements / proposals.
Develops and manages project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.
Mentors junior staff members and motivates project teams.
Assures that Stantec’s Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
Works with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.
Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections.
Travel to projects internationally and other states for client meetings and site visits. Travel by air and car required.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Detailed knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
Ability to apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
Ability to oversee development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD).
Strong experience with general software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project budget and schedule.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong sense of design and history – resume and design portfolio with demonstrated past project experience required.
Strong understanding of project financials.
Adaptable to various project delivery methods, Design Build, IPD, Design Bid Build, etc.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in architecture is required.
Professional Architectural license is required.
Minimum 12 years’ experience is required.
LEED accredited, Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP), Green Globes Professional (GGP), Wellness, or other sustainable professional is preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
