Requisition No: 841400Agency: Department of StateWorking Title: SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER III - 45001015Division of Administrative ServicesBureau of Departmental Information Systems*****OPEN COMPETITIVE*****MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or at least four (4) years of equivalent work experience in the field of Information Technology.At least two (2) years of experience managing network and firewall appliances in a Windows server environment.Meet requirements to become Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certified.PREFERENCES:Certification in one or more of the following: Microsoft Azure Administration, Microsoft Server Administration, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Palo Alto Network.Experience with Voice Over IP, server and storage system management tools and software, switch topology design, TCP/IP network communications and network security.At least four (4) years technical support in a State of Florida Agency.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the installing, configuring, and troubleshooting the Department's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), wireless and Internet systems. Maintain network hardware and software, monitor network to ensure network availability of all systems and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.Applies advance knowledge of TCP/IP and VoIP to troubleshoot network problems and outages, supporting network and/or VoIP technologies, especially relating to the Cisco switching, F5 load balancers, and Palo Alto firewalls. Collaborates with network architects on network optimization, design, setup, configuration and support for complex software systems, and maintenance of network and telecommunication systems.Assists with providing web services (IIS) administration and deployments including certificates. Assists with managing and provisioning Azure cloud infrastructure services, assists in monitoring, performance, and tracking cost and utilization.Serves as one of the primary points of contact with the Supervisors of Elections office in each of the 67 counties within the State of Florida to ensure network connectivity and communications with Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS).Assisting in disaster preparedness and response.Assisting in the completion of inventory audits.Assisting in the disposition of network assets and peripheral network equipment assets.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Unix, Linux, and Windows systems administration, network administration.Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; Ability to communicate technical data effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to work well in a team environment; Ability to work effectively under pressure.OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:Maintains consistent and reliable attendance and complies with agency guidelines on attendance. This position is designated to serve in an on-call status. When activated, the incumbent must respond to the call within 15 minutes, and if necessary, arrive on-site within 1 hour.CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS:A Level 2 criminal background check is a condition of employment.
