Department SummaryResearch in the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology (IBP) is dedicated to explaining the function of complex biological systems, in cells, organs, and individuals. The recent rapid advances in molecular and cell biology and genetics, including the sequencing of numerous genomes, has provided an unprecedented opportunity to use this new information to understand how the genes interact to produce emergent phenotypes in complex systems.

Position SummaryAssist with purchasing and related functions for the operating and sponsored research awards for approximately 27 Principal Investigators (PIs) for Physiology Group. Reconcile ledgers, prepare accounting forms, and post-service unit recharges.

Qualifications1 year Demonstrated working knowledge of procurement practices. (Preferred)1 year Demonstrated experience in managing several tasks, keeping all on track and organized. (Required)1 year University system experience is preferable. (Preferred)Demonstrated skill in Purchasing/ Accounts Payable systems. (Preferred)Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet and database software to generate reports, including extracts from mainframe sources. (Required)Strong communication skills for dealing with a diverse clientele including vendors, sales representatives, principal investigators, central administrative staff and others. (Required)Demonstrated ability to initiate travel reimbursements. (Preferred)Skill in effecting detailed procedures with accuracy and timeliness. (Required)Knowledge of electronic purchasing, e-commerce and other industry practices. (Preferred)Demonstrated skill in writing clear, concise, logical, and grammatically correct business correspondence and analyses. (Required)Knowledge of accounting, account reconciliation, and correcting errors in accounting transactions. (Preferred)Strong organizational abilities in managing administrative and logistical processes. (Required)Interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with faculty, students, and other administrators. (Required)Demonstrated skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect varying levels of importance of multiple work assignments. (Required)
