Department SummaryThe Health Economics and Evaluation Research (HEER) Program is housed at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. The HEER team examines the impact of federal programs, statewide demonstrations, local initiatives, environmental disasters, and state and legislative policies. The HEER program has examined the impact of policies and programs on health insurance coverage, how health care is delivered, whether population health has been impacted, and whether cost savings are achieved.
Position SummaryThe UCLA Center for Health Policy Research is a pioneering institution dedicated to democratizing health data and advancing health equity. Through initiatives like the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) and the Health Economics and Evaluation Research (HEER) Program, we provide accessible data to policymakers, advocates, and the public. Qualifications3 years related work or educational experience. (Required)Demonstrated ability in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures to define the problem or objective; identify concerns; formulate logical and objective conclusions and recommend solutions. (Required)Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and at least one statistical software (SAS, R, or STATA), which includes data access, data retrieval, data management, data analysis, and data presentation. (Required)Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate activities with competing deadlines. (Required)Detail oriented with strong organizational, documentation, and analytical problem-solving skills sufficient to manage multiple projects and meet often-competing deadlines. (Required)Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact with Principal Investigators, research and administrative staff and external audiences. Excellent writing skills to develop reports, policy briefs, and articles that can meet the needs of a broad audience. (Required)Ability to research, analyze and summarize information in order to make a determination. Skill in analyzing information, problem solving, and procedures to define a problem or objective; identify concerns; formulate logical and objective conclusions and recommend solutions. (Required)Capacity to understand and apply knowledge of data privacy, confidentiality, and data safety issues. (Required)Working knowledge of state Medicaid programs and policy development and implementation and experience in health policy analysis, program implementation, and healthcare systems evaluation within California. (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal AffiliationsBachelor's Degree Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Sciences or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)Master's Degree Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Sciences or a related field.
