OVERVIEW

Cache County, Utah is looking for a

Development Services Director

to plan, direct, and oversee the department's operations and employees, including developing department vision and policies. The

Development Services Director

is a full-time appointed exempt position generally working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening meeting attendance.

Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance on the first day of employment, retirement contributions, bereavement leave, and 14 paid holidays. Full-time employees also receive 18 days of personal leave in the first year of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The

Development Services Director

will be the land use authority for land use actions as legislated by the County Council. The ideal candidate for the

Development Services Director

will need to be skilled in interdepartmental communication and collaboration and have a thorough knowledge of Utah and County codes and procedures affecting planning, zoning, building, GIS, and code enforcement. The

Director of Development

Services will have a knowledge and understanding of principles and practices related to local government planning and zoning with an emphasis on County government, economics, sociology, and community organization as applied to urban planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited university with a Master's Degree in Urban or Rural Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related field; AND

Eight years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties, two years of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications:

Must maintain membership in the American Planning Association (APA);

AICP Certification (or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment); and

Must possess a valid driver's license.

In addition to the above requirements, the Development Services Director will possess the following:

Practice positive working relationships and collaboration with fellow employees, elected officials, other departments, agencies, and the public;

Be accountable to the department and fellow employees; valuing integrity, open communication, and professionalism in all interactions;

Exercise initiative and independent judgment, and act resourcefully under varying conditions;

Oversee division leads that manage the Building, GIS, and Planning and Zoning Divisions, coordinate long-range strategic priorities, guidelines, deadlines, and implement annual action plans;

Provide direction and oversight to the management of division-related planning and zoning issues; and

Direct the development of applicable ordinances, permitting processes, public service provision, and related items.
