Acme-Hardesty brings essential materials, needed by thousands of manufacturers, to create products that benefit millions of consumers.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Domestic Transportation Manager will coordinate and manage the overall processes and relationships with 3rd party service providers for inbound and outbound freight in the US and Canada. Ensure the highest level of service and value to internal and external customers, while maintaining the lowest costs, which results in sustainable, profitable growth for the company. You will play an integral role in ensuring the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Acme-Hardesty Supply Chain.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:Management:Responsible for overall management, review, control and execution of outbound transportation; packaged and bulk.Set up, maintain and improve key Warehouse and Transportation KPIs/Metrics/Scorecards with our key Warehouse, bulk terminals and Distribution partners.Drive continuous improvement with our Warehouse and Distribution partners both in terms of cost, service and quality.Lead Request for Qualifications / Request Proposals from service providers and make recommendation to management which supplier to choose based pre-determined Critical Success Factors.Lead and manage changes in supplier from time-to-time with no impact on service levels.Define and manage outbound transportation to continuously assess suppliers performance, quality, compliance and costs.Lead and run Quarterly Business Reviews with each Supplier.Assess and adapt to the Suppliers capability to meet A-Hs strategic business needs and make changes where necessary.Ensure the optimal use of available computer systems to enter, maintain and process transportation related information internally and externally, effectively, and efficiently.Establish, maintain and report on the success of our Third-Party providers, and work with Finance to maintain and ensure adherence to budget.Lead and project manage key supply chain and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.Execution:Coordinate and manage day to day activities with new and existing 3PLs, including bulk terminals, ISO tank depots, trans-loading facilities and Freight Forwarders. Requires arranging freight for domestic direct sales orders and inventory purchases, through internal and external communication with shipper, receiver, and transportation provider.Manage all Acme shipping, and customer delivery, profiles in Acme-Hardestys ERP.Coordinate and manage all Acme and customer rail cars; include tracking, loading, shipping, cleaning, storage, and performance metrics.Ensure service providers investigate and resolve all transportation-related non-conformances, including claims, in a satisfactory and timely manner.Manage freight claim submission and track reimbursement.Monitor outbound transportation related expenses and ensure they are within approved budgets.Review, reconcile, and approve all 3PL invoices, to include guiding finance to process bill backs as needed.Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, particularly DOT and Rail (Hazmat, HOS, CSA).Manage inbound Drayage of all shipments from port to warehouse including performance management.KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS DESIRED:10 years experience in logistics, preferably in chemical or related industry.Ability to commute in-person to our office.Travel ~5-10% as required.Bachelors degree in supply chain or equivalent disciplineAPICS or Equivalent preferred.Extensive experience working with Third Party Logistics Providers (3PLs)Working knowledge of transportation regulationsStrong Knowledge of each mode of transportation, including truck (LTL, TL, Parcel), warehousing, liquid bulk, rail and IsotanksStrong Project Management ExperienceAbility to efficiently utilize Microsoft suite of products, TMS, CRMCORE COMPETENCIESSelf-Starter/Drive for ResultsProactively takes initiative and drives projects to completion.
