Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician.
Uses CT technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.
*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2.
*Performs all types of CT studies to include diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
3.
*Uses sterile technique as required.
4.
*Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
5.
*Performs venipuncture.
6.
*Competently operates all CT equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, teleradiography, performs and evaluates images for technical quality.
7.
*Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, etc., to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
8.
*Properly cares for and imaging patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
9.
*Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
10.
*Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
11.
*Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required.
12.
*Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
13.
*Keeps work area properly supplied.
14.
*Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
Certification in CT required within 24 months of hire.
Valid state medical radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
