Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician.
Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
*Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic and portable fluoroscopy; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
*Uses sterile technique as required.
*Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
*Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS and offsite Radiologist Services
*Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
*Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
*Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
*Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions
with courtesy and accuracy.
*Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
*Keeps area properly supplied.
*Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
