SHIFT DETAILS
first three months is M-F regular training hours
Shift schema-
6 weeks on and 12 weeks off (11pm - 7am then 12 weeks 7am -4pm)
Either Tuesday - Saturday/or Sunday -Thursday
MUST HAVES:
Linux Admin- Supporting, monitoring and troubleshooting Linux SystemsApplication and Networking IssuesIdeally will have a blended Infra Support Background- Systems and NetworkingNetworking - LAN/WANExperience monitoring a network (Splunk, SNMP, etc) - ask candidates about this toward incident responseNice to Have
AWS Background- taking over support for a solution that is moving over to AWS.Looking at purchasing AWS support for the toolFor monitoring and supportSystem Support Engineer Scope - Incident Response:
Supports all of the tools, systems and applications for all systems with the customersLooking for someone who is a jack of all trades in infrastructureThis is an incident response role - we are looking for System Engineers who can respond to specific events which pop up through several monitoring tools in use. Linux is the biggest focus for them.This team will provide incident response for the systems they supportExample could be a disc alert - needing to do Unix commands to see what files to deleteThis team isn't diagnosing server outagesHas an open source solution being used for monitoring work - moving away from thisSCOM and SMARTS (Dell product)Assure 1 is used in the Federal space as wellIf a candidate understand SNMP they would pick upIf a person knows how to work with VI they will be a fitSDWAN experience is a big plus but not requiredResponsibilities
A systems support engineer will be responsible for a wide range of activities surrounding the on-going maintenance and expert level support of Verizon Managed Services applications, tools and platforms, including but not limited to Change, Incident, Problem and Risk Management. These activities will include resolving escalations from network operations centers, project teams, IT and management team. Expected to own and drive resolution of highly complex system and application issues, complex change management, working with Product Marketing, Account teams and internal organizations (IT, Engineering, Infrastructure, etc.) on product wide issues as well as product readiness projects. A systems support engineer will directly interact with network operations and at times the customer on high visibility and complex technical issues. Special focus on and advanced technical skills with operating systems, network management applications and protocols is required.
Additional responsibilities:
Mentor network operations engineers.Support new technology and product integration.Assist with remediation efforts of security vulnerabilities per procedure.Review and provide technical analysis on IAR's.Perform alarm studies.Create and maintain knowledge articles.Analyze platform issues and manage escalations to various IT organizations.Must have:
Broad knowledge of all products within Managed Services.Intermediate knowledge of network management platforms, applications and protocols, to include at least one or more of the following:
LinuxWindowsWAN/LAN/SD-WANFive or more years of hands on experience with OS, applications support or networking; common network security practices, standards and troubleshooting.The position will work directly with internal operations teams and occasionally customers, and therefore must have strong customer service skills and the capability to interface successfully with both the customer's technical and non-technical contacts, Verizon Account teams and various other groups involved in the delivery of service to the end customer.Flexibility with work hours, as this position will required to work an off-shift and on-callExcellent communications skills and be able to deliver results under pressure.
