Job Description

The Endoscopy Technician performs various patient care activities related to treatment and care of endoscopy services. Provide support for physicians and nurses during endoscopy procedures. Prepare and maintain instruments and equipment. Anticipates needs of the room. May obtain specimens. The Endoscopy Technician 2 will assist MD/RN during basic and advanced procedures. Acts as a resource for peers and precepts new team members. Intra-procedural Patient Care Assist physicians or registered nurses in the conduct of basic and advanced endoscopic procedures such as Endoscopic Ultrasounds (EUS), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and Endo-bronchial ultrasound (EBUS) Collect specimens from patients, using standard medical procedures. Place devices, such as blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeter sensors, nasal cannulas, surgical cautery pads, and cardiac monitoring electrodes, on patients to monitor vital signs. Reprocessing/High Level Disinfecting (HLD)

Clean, disinfect, or calibrate scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards. Prepare suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements.

Maintenance of Equipment/Supplies ... 5%

Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning. Maintain or repair endoscopic equipment. Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies. Conduct in-service training sessions to disseminate information regarding equipment or instruments.

Qualifications

Position Requirements: Experience: Two (2) years of Endoscopy-specific experience Education: High School Diploma and Completion of GI Associate coursework through SGNA every 5 years License and Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Skills and Abilities: effective communication, customer service, interpersonal, planning and organization, active listening, attention to detail, technology and software, direct patient care.
