Maintenance Planner Location: Waterloo, IA Duration: 36 months Description: Major purpose: Plans and schedules the ongoing maintenance and preventive maintenance for all of the plant equipment, as well as the building and facilities. Receives maintenance requests, then prioritizes, plans, and assigns duties to various plant skilled trades personnel, such as mechanics, toolmakers, pipe fitters, tool grinders, and machine hands. Will order and purchase the parts and materials necessary to complete maintenance and repairs. Major duties: Initiates spare part determinations and setups for new and existing production and facilities equipment Coordinates with external vendors on reoccurring and non-reoccurring activities. Participates and/or leads projects and project planning in coordination across functional groups to support the maintenance and operation of facilities and equipment. Receives maintenance requests from throughout the facility. Prioritizes, plans, and occasionally assigns jobs to non-skilled, semi-skilled and/or skilled maintenance personnel to repair or perform preventive maintenance on production and facilities equipment. Provides technical support to skilled trades, to include acquiring drawings, reviewing proper procedures, identifying parts, equipment, and tools. Identifies sources, secures quotes and issues purchase orders for repair and spare parts, and other materials and services required to support maintenance activities. Generate various reports as needed. Tracks crib and self-help stock usage and inventory levels in order to maintain reasonable levels of inventory and support cost reduction efforts. Coordinates the creation and updating of preventative maintenance report to support improved machine uptime as well as OSHA and ANSI standards. Technical skills & knowledge: Computer systems knowledge, ideally including the systems used at Client. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge. Familiarity with one or more of the following systems: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge. Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others. Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, safety, ergonomics, tooling, tool design and layout of facilities. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge. Understanding of machinery, assembly line and maintenance and how these processes interact with each other. - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others. Relevant work experiences: Experience in using Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft tools. - 1 - 3 years Manufacturing and/or operations experience. - 1 - 3 years Previous work experience in one of the following areas: electronics, mechanical or hydraulic. - 1 - 3 years Duties: Provides work direction to non-skilled, semi-skilled and/or skilled personnel on a daily basis and may provide supervision in supervisor's absence.
